CompTIA
The CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry
Association) is an organization that brings together many
players in the computing business, including technology
vendors, training companies, end-user organizations of
all kinds, plus representatives from industry and the
academia.
The purpose of the organization is to identify
technical skills where certain measures of competency
are beneficial to the Professionals, and to design examinations
that stress those kinds of skills, and knowledge that
are most likely to relate to real-world job responsibilities
and activities.
In short, CompTIA's biggest goal is to help
its members identify the kinds of job roles that are most
urgently needed in the workplace, and to design methods
to test individuals to help ensure that they've got the
right skill, what it takes to fill those jobs.

CompTIA A+ Certification
- CompTIA A+ 2009 Essentials (220-701)
- CompTIA A+ 2009 Practical Application
(220-702)
CompTIA A+ certification is an international
industry credential Certificate that validates the knowledge
of computer service technicians and Software vendors.
Major hardware and software vendors, distributors
and resellers accept CompTIA A+ as the standard in foundation-level.
The exams cover a broad range of hardware
and software technologies.
The skills and knowledge measured by the
CompTIA A+ exams were from industry-wide and worldwide
job task analysis.
Earning CompTIA A+ certification proves
that a candidate has a broad knowledge and competency
in core hardware and operating system technologies including
installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance
and basic networking.
In order to receive CompTIA A+ certification
a candidate must pass two exams. The first exam is
CompTIA A+ Essentials, exam number 220-701. The CompTIA
A+ Essentials examination measures
necessary competencies for an entry-level IT professional
with the equivalent knowledge of at least 500 hours of
hands-on experience in the lab or field. Successful candidates
will have the knowledge required to understand the fundamentals
of computer technology, networking, and security, and
will have the skills required to identify hardware, peripheral,
networking, and security components. Successful candidates
will understand the basic functionality of the operating
system and basic troubleshooting methodology, practice
proper safety procedures, and will effectively interact
with customers and peers.
The CompTIA A+ 220-702 exam, Practical Application,
is the second exam required in order for CompTIA A+ certification
candidates to complete their certification in the 2009
Edition of CompTIA A+. The CompTIA A+ Practical Application
exam measures the necessary competencies for an entry-level
IT professional who has hands-on experience in the lab
or the field. Successful candidates will have the skills
required
to install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PC workstations,
the Windows OS and SOHO networks. The successful candidate
will utilize troubleshooting techniques and tools to effectively
and efficiently resolve PC, OS, and network connectivity
issues and implement security practices. Job titles in
some organizations which are descriptive of the
role of this individual may be: Enterprise technician,
IT administrator, field service technician, PC or Support
technician, etc. Ideally, the CompTIA A+ Practical Application
candidate has already passed the CompTIA A+ Essentials
examination.

and organization security.
CompTIA Security+ (2008 Edition) can be
an elective or prerequisite to advanced security certifications.
CompTIA today has to be considered, because
of theft and destruction of intellectual property takes
place despite the presence of firewalls, encryption and
corporate edicts.
The industry and governments around the
world must have a well-trained workforce to effectively
combat hackers, attacks and security threats. CompTIA
Security+ is the standard validation for that workforce.
The CompTIA Security+ (2008 Edition) Certification
is aimed at an IT security professional who has:
-
A minimum of 2 years experience in
network administration with a focus on security
-
Day to day technical information security
experience
-
Broad knowledge of security concerns
and implementation including the topics in the

CompTIA Server+ Certification
The CompTIA Server+ (2009 Edition) certification
is an international vendor neutral credential. The Server+
exam is a validation of “foundation” level
server skills and knowledge, and is used by organizations
and IT professionals around the globe.
The CompTIA Server+ (2009 Edition) certification is targeted
towards individuals with 18-24 months of IT experience.
Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA
